How to make your Intel Pentium-D computer ultra-fast :-)

{zalman} The Intel Pentium-D 2.8 GHz (Intel i945P) computer, sitting proudly on my deskOr A Story about How my Intel Pentium-D Computer Became Ultra-Fast… again* :-)

…So here I am, sitting in the office yesterday, sipping at my coffee peacefully and thinking about doing some boring PC optimisation work – defragmentation, disk cleanup, etc.

Lately I noticed, that my computer is acting strange from time to time – slows down, opens applications with much more delay than usual; the whole Windows was feeling somehow slowish, but not in the way it slows down after too much work performed since first install (besides, I installed this Windows XP Professional SP2 myself not a long ago, and that wasn’t an option).

How do you write a post about a walk in the mountains

Kominite peak on Vitosha mountainYesterday was a great day.

The sun was shining bright, there was no wind, and in Sofia the temperatures were way above zero (Celsius, not Fahrenheit;-) – so we decided to go out with friends and see Vitosha mountain.

So, how do you write a post about how you went to the zmountain, and how beautiful it all was? I don’t know. I confess that Dan Cederholm’s post post about how he climbed a mountain inspired me a bit.

So, here I present humbly to you some outline of this day’s adventure, and a couple of photos to enhance the story. I’m sure that this is not the perfect style, that some things could be told better, some omitted, and others – added. But this is how I did it. Enjoy:)

La Compagnie Malabar – in Sofia!

After my first (and rather sad) post from this morning, I decided to write about something more cheerful – the passing of the famous Compagnie Malabar via Sofia:-)

January 1st, 2007, was a very calm day. A few hours ago Bulgaria was officially accepted as a member of the EU. A special lightshow at exactly 12:00 am this day was visible all over the capital. So, after New Year’s eve which came with lots of noise & light, me and my wife took a good sleep till noon, and then deciced to walk around the city a little.

At around 5 p.m., we were on Vitosha street, when suddenly we felt some unusual animation in front of us. There were lots of people coming and going and reaching for their digital cameras. The trams around stopped.

As we continued to walk and draw closer to the possible center of the event, the crowd densed. And then… Some strange people in white and with scary masks on their faces appeared before our eyes.

It’s 11:40 pm on January 1st, 2007.

For 23 hours and 40 minutes, Bulgaria is in the EU.

For the first time in the last few weeks, I have installed a WordPress blog/website, and I do not intend to delete it ;-)

It’s a step forward – for me (and maybe not so big a step for humanity;-)
