Fuji X-10 Magic

Still can’t believe that FujiFilm X-10 can deliver photos of such amazing quality, straight in JPG, in automatic mode, and almost without any post-production editing of the colors!

These two shots are from the Seven Rila lakes, where we went with Ani on the 30th of September this year (it was our 8-th year together, we had an anniversary to celebrate)!

12 MPix, 2/3″ EXR CMOS sensor, RAW/JPEG, 28-112 mm vario lens (35 mm equiv.), F2.0-2.8 — the technical characteristics of the Fuji X-10 are pretty good.

But this is not that important — more important is that shooting with the camera gives the photographer an immense pleasure, with every shot taken. I call it “The Fuji magic”. :-)

Simona

Simona Sax and Michel

The best present for my birthday. Simona today is 8 months old, 2 days (and counting). ;-)

The wonderful music of Jamie Mc Donald

You might have seen him on the streets of Sofia lately: red-haired, cool dude, with an acoustic guitar in his hands, and a strong voice.

Jamie Mc Donald, musician

He travels, plays and sings for his own pleasure (it seems). He’s now in Bulgaria and you can go and listen to his music in the Sofia music clubs — but sometimes on the street, too.

First time we heard him, it was when we were walking with Ani on Vitosha street, in the Winter. Two days ago we heard him sing again, on almost the same place. We stopped to listen for a while…

…then, after his last song, I asked him, where’s he from. Once we knew Jamie is from Ireland, it was quite obvious we’ll ask him to sing us some Irish song, since we’re big fans of Irish music!

So, the next song is “by fans’ request”:

Jamie Mc Donald has an official Facebook page and a YouTube channel.

Here: http://soundcloud.com/jamie-mc-donald
you can listen to a few tracks from his next album, The Way It Was (where he performs with Boyana Zhelyazkova, violin). I like the music, a lot!

In the next few weeks you’ll be able to hear him sing in one of the Sofia clubs (maybe Mc Carthy’s or Swingin’ Hall)… or again, on the street.

Stop and listen for a while, if you happen to “bump” into him somewhere. You never know — maybe Jamie will soon leave for Ireland… or for the next destination on his travel list?… :)

PS Thanks for the music, Jamie! It was so nice meeting you! :-)

(This year, I have shot several (color) rolls of film. It was fun. Very much fun!:-)

Photo Styles in Adobe Fireworks

In general, Adobe Fireworks is not intended for serious photo manipulations.

However, the program has such capabilities too, which is a great plus when one’s working in a “mixed” (vectors+bitmaps) design mode, for screen.

The above illustration was created in less than 3 seconds, using a simple photo, and applying a ready-to-use photo style in Fireworks.

Here’s the original:

Photo styles can be installed quite easily and then (re)used in any kinds of situations.

Here are a couple of interesting sets for your attention:

Photo styles set (2), by Linus Lim

The end results can be quite interesting, and it all takes just a couple of clicks! Also note, you can easily create your own styles, for all kinds of possible uses (not limited to slight photo-retouching). :)
